For several years, Trish wrote a weekly column for the Lewistown Sentinel of Lewistown, Pennsylvania. Trish found that as much fun as it might be to write a column, she found it was much harder to be a columnist. It wasn't the writing, or the deadlines, or the ever-ongoing quest for topics that was troublesome: Trish took to all of that like a duck to water. But after several columns had been out, she started having to deal with recognition whenever she went out of the house. On one occasion, one member of the community had taken exception to something Trish had written, and decided to pin Trish into a corner of the local supermarket and give her a piece of what passed for her mind. Ultimately, Trish bowed out from life as a columnist to focus on her novels. Fortunately, we've managed to locate a few of her columns that she hadn't managed to hide well enough. |
